Don't put yourself through this. The structure of the book alone makes the the subject impenetrable to a novice. Strang's exposition only muddles things further. If you are new to the subject or need a reference, get Poole's book.
Perfect for those wanting to use linear algebra in any applied context. Not so great if one wants to understand the theoretical underpinnings of the subject. Comp. Sci and engineers tend to love this book.
Easy to learn from, and exceedingly comprehensive for its size. An essential read for just about anyone hoping to do good quantitative science.
