very entertaining, gripping and page turning, but lacks the military aspect inherent in clancy's other novels. but the disappointment is fleeting. it's just as good as all his others.
This book was much much much better than the movie. My dad had given this to me to read when I just couldn't find anything that interested me. I think I was 17 or 18 when I read it. And I looked forward to reading more about Jack Ryan.
I found the novel slow and uninteresting. Perhaps it's Clancy's style that I'm not a fan of. I enjoyed the movie, but couldn't get into the book at all (which is completely the opposite of how I normally feel when comparing books to movies).
More spy novel than the others and unfortunately ruined by the film. The book is a good read though and difficult to put down
It was a few years ago, but loved the book. It was so much better than the movie (aren't they always)
Jack Ryan always my favorite...except when in movie..the movie just don't do justice to the book itself.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this book! Definitely one of my favorites, and also one of my favorite movies. I reccommend this one to my friends all the time.
Not one of my favorites, especially when I saw the movie and couldn't see Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan when it took place BEFORE Hunt for Red October. Still interesting read.
A quick and enjoyable read for teen guys looking for something that doesn't suck like the Twilight series
The first in the chronology of Jack Ryan. The story tells of Irish militants and there attempts to kill Jack Ryan.
