I loved this book in a very melancholy kind of way. The narrator is Death, and it is about the Holocaust. But you find strength in the power of the human spirit and uplifted by the way the characters deal with tremendous hardship. A must read.
I liked the Book Thief but not as much as many other readers. I recommend it but didn't love it.
