Uniting staunchly opposed viewpoints into one groundbreaking new perspective, this startling and timely work illuminates the complete interdependence between Biblical reports and modern scientific discoveries. Comparing key events from the Old Testament with the most current findings of biochemists, paleontologists, and physicists, Gerald Schroeder resolves age-old debates about miracles, the origins of the universe, the first life on Earth, and the meaning of free will. Comparing key events from the Old Testament with the most current findings of biochemists, paleontologists, and physicists, Gerald Schroeder resolves age-old debates about miracles, the origins of the universe, the first life on Earth, and the meaning of free will. Through thoughtful, engaging discussions--even using Einstein's theory of relativity to validate a six-day creation timetable--The Science of God ultimately proves both Darwin and creationists right. This is a well organized book that, despite the authors claims to the contrary, you can follow and understand even if you don't have a thorough understanding of physics and/or the Judeo-Christian belief in Creation. While Schroeder does make a couple of rather bizarre leaps based on his own logic that cannot be backed up by either science or the Bible - MOST of what he says marries the two in a convincingly literal, logical and beautiful way. the first chapter relating the 7 days of genesis too the big bang had some interesting relationships... after that, a physicist talking genetics and biology? not that is can't be done, but he should've focused on his specialty. it just got goofy after that. (show less)

I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking a possible scientific explanation for a creation that takes place in 6 days and in 15 billion years...depending on your position in the universe! Uses Einstein's theory of relativity and the book of Genesis to show how it is possible for both six 24 hour days and 15 billion years to take place simultaneously! Also discusses dinosaurs, evolution, and other concepts and how science is actually converging more and more with the bible. Not 100% s... (show more)

Not 100% sure its all true, but he has a lot of facinating possiblities here. (show less)

Excellent book probing the percieved opposing ideas and philosophies of faith and scientific reason. Dr. Schroeder does a wonderful job illustrating the fundamental science and faith are not mutually exclusive. His intergral accounting for varied rates of the passage of time as it relates to the age of the universe is quite interesting.
