  LE PETIT PRINCE (or THE LITTLE PRINCE) is one of my all-time favourite books, and possibly the book I've read more than any other book in my entire life. I've read the original French-language version once, the translation by Katherine Woods three times, and the translation by Richard Howard three times, for a total of seven times!   LE PETIT PRINCE (or THE LITTLE PRINCE) is one of my all-time favourite books, and possibly the book I've read more than any other book in my entire life. I've read the original French-language version once, the translation by Katherine Woods three times, and the translation by Richard Howard three times, for a total of seven times! While nothing beats the original French, the translation by Richard Howard seems to be the best English translation. I've skimmed through the translation by Irene Testot-Ferry, and it has a lot of the same liberties that Katherine Woods took. Richard Howard's translation seems to stay the most true to the source. The simplicity of Antoine de Saint-Exupery's story is only skin deep, as this story retains a depth that most stories (especially those written for children) severely lack. While children can laugh and have fun at the seemingly simple plot, adults can read further into it and see parallels to the real world we all live in. Also, one could even read the story as an allegory to the story of Christ. So much philosophy and depth is presented in this magical, whimsical story of a little boy from a small planet who meets a crash-landed pilot in the middle of the Sahara Desert and tells his story.   J´ai lu ce livre pour ma classe de francais. Un livre magnifique qui pose questions sur la vie, l´amour, l´amitie, et les pensees en face des obstacles. Classique, pour les enfants, qui aimeront les animaux, les etoiles, et plus -et pour les adultes, qui utiliseront l´imagination.
