It's a hit!

I liked it, The message for me is "I create my life". I believe in the "Law of Attraction" and see this as the begining.

NEGATIVE REVIEW OF POP BOOK:
The Secret...ahhhh. Well, certainly nothing new here. The power of positive thinking-- yes, it's great. However, this book continually makes direct or implied statements that encourage an unsustainable (immoral?) lifestyle-- you can have anything and everything you want. Secondly, it insists that anyone who does not have everything they want, does not because of their own 'unbelief'. If even claims that people who have experienced some of histories most horrific events where somehow responsible for placing themselves in the way of such terrors (p. 28, through negative thoughts and the law of attraction?). And then less horrific but perhaps more damaging at a personal level, the book suggest that if you are fat, it absolutely because you think fat thoughts.

The power of positive thinking is an amazing things. But this book is a terrible restatement, and it's absolutist claims, I feel, will more than likely complicate and confuse, distract and depress in the long run-- rather than lift up or offer any real hope of progress.

Dan Milman is a much better choice. Practice the life, don't grasp at magic tricks to fulfill your wildest and most selfish dreams. (show less)

I find it really hard to believe that of all the people involved in the making of this book (and movie), not one person stopped to think that maybe there's a much more rational reason than "the universe" or "the law of attractions" is delivering the things you are focusing on. That somehow this magical something-or-other is listening in or your thoughts and delivering them to you. That being said, if you replace "the universe" with "your sub-conscious&quo... (show more)

That being said, if you replace "the universe" with "your sub-conscious" then the book actually has a plausible message. Even a smidgen of actual research would have turned that up(which this book clearly has none, where did they dig up these "experts")
When it got to the chapter on health, I consider this book to be downright dangerous and irresponsible, telling people essentially that happy thoughts can cure all manner of diseases and ailments. The genius of this book is its irrefutable nature. If someone says, "I though really hard about what I wanted and i got it!" You could say, "see, it works." On the other hand, if you don't get what you are thinking, the response is simply, "then you were doing it wrong." (show less)

Absolutely wonderful book... the flow is a bit off; however the many messages come threw with an impact. Possibly life changing depending on if you have been applying The Secret through-out your life and this is just a book that refreshes those natural instincts; or if this is your first glimpse into this manner of thinking - either way I give it 5 stars :-)

This book was pretty much a waste of time to read. After the first few chapters of 'the secret' you start thinking, "When is it going to be over?" This book repeats itself over and over. I most definitly would not tell any high-school friends of mine to read this. It is more of a depressed, lonely, nothing-better-to-do, dumpy person book. It might lift their spirits a little.

I love this book and its message. Yes, i would say it is a beginner but it has led me to several new insights that have changed my life and relationships. I had no direction...always felt in a slump. I was looking for something, and the Secret was the begining. Yes...The message is nothing new...no big SECRET...but when you actually LISTEN to what is being said..you get it. Its written in a way that i finally heard. I started living possitive, trying not to judge anything...found there was no harm in using my thoughts and imagination to ask for things i wanted..never felt i had the right or was worthy of them....but what harm....I was approched by several people saying i was glowing...happier...everyone wanted some of what i had...which is sad in its own way...I was just happy!! Now im not saying that the UNIVERSE gave me all the things i asked for..(and i recieved several) but the possitive thinking and my happiness attracted so many oppertunities for me to recieve the things i wanted. I never seen them before. The secret just helps remind you of the tools you already have to better yourself....and I am thankful for the reminder!!! Remember to remember be aware of your thoughts...it is true...thoughts become things!!!

    Seriously?

Are people really so desperate and gullible to believe in this kind of feel-good "esoteric" stuff? Why are people not content with reality, and choose to top it with lies?

Note: This is not only criticism, it is also an actual question. Please respond as such.

What a piece of total non-sense this book is. Tell the so-called "Secret" to billions suffering in countries where YOU are not in charge of YOU. Easy for the author living in a civilized world to say. Of course where there is law and stability, the only obstacle for personal advancement is YOU, but not where there's none.

    Confused.....

After I finished reading the book, I agreed that when you desire to get something, the universe will help you to achieve it. However, how people know what is the thing they are most desirable as there are many illusions in our daily life? We always get somethings which aren't what we want.

    perfect

This book has proved to me that ain't matter how hard is the situation to get what you want in life, in fact i have been doing many things lately in which i had fought to get it and at the final i got it. The secret is a power, is a positive reflection of everything in life. It;s a light!

    Feeling good

    Hi,
There is definitely a big gap between thinking of the things and achieving them.
However, when one thinks that he has all that he wants and have positive attitude, he feels good and never depressed. Consequently people attract to him and the person gets all that he wants from the surrounding.

    confusing sex with love...

Many times people within relationships confuse sex with love....there is however a difference! Sadly enough people get caught in a rut where they've become co-dependent on their partners...intimacy is usually mistaken for love ... On the otherhand, others subconsciously manipulate partners by using sex in order to get a quick-fix ...feel good feeling/loved....but are in fact only deceiving themselves or have a false perception of what constitutes love or what ahealthy loving relationship is. In all aspects, one has to be true to yourself...
