This book gets a bit flaky at times. Kaplan holds the sayings, doings, and even the rumors of the doings of the Rabbis to be authoritative. So, some of his assumptions were outlandish speculations. Other than that, I found a few gems. For instance, Kaplan mentions a one rabbinic view of evil that I am still pondering. The book offers some techniques to focus the mind and some interesting Jewish perspective.

This is a great introduction for someone who has never meditated, but for anyone at all familiar with technique the first half of the book will be redundant. However, if your looking for a Jewish perspective to enhance your practice the last few chapter offer a great place to start such a journey.
