When a NASA satellite discovers an astonishingly rare object buried deep in the Arctic ice, the floundering space agency proclaims a much-needed victory -- a victory with profound implications for NASA policy and the impending presidential election. To verify the authenticity of the find, the White House calls upon the skills of intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton. Accompanied by a team of experts, including the charismatic scholar Michael Tolland, Rachel travels to the Arctic and uncovers the unthinkable: evidence of scientific trickery -- a bold deception that threatens to plunge the world into controversy. But before she can warn the president, Rachel and Michael are ambushed by a team of assassins. Fleeing for their lives across a desolate and lethal landscape, their only hope for survival is to discover who is behind this masterful plot. The truth, they will learn, is the most shocking deception of all.

I really enjoyed this book, full of scientific twists and turns, and you'll be amazed at what you could learn, of what you could fear, and of what might happen.

You'll hear yourself Gasp in a room full of noisy people because the book makes you feel.

It's so detailed and yet It's so mysterious, even the most attentive reader would go back a few pages to remember something, because the book, the words, the scene, will zero in on you, capturing your Mind's full attention.

The plot moves at break neck speed, It leaves you breathless for more, for you to turn one more page, and keeps you addicted and you will surely remember it until the end.

I'm surprised this book didn't burst from the action, the conspiracy, the mystery, comical by some things, but the Suspense will make your breath stop if you wait.

Truly a wonderful read. I recommend it. (show less)

(show less)

I really enjoyed the book and could not put it down. I like the idea of finding alien life and then... well you will have to just read the book to find out.

the explanations given by Dan Brown are wonderful and complete, making the technology and science he gives believable.

His characters are also both likeable and hateable. You feel for the heroes and dislike the villians and are shocked by some character developments that are not expected.

I feel in particular he captures the political characters very well. They manipulate so well until you can see into them and they become just human.

The plot itself is incredible. Conspiracy upon conspiricy. Plot twist upon plot twist. The book keeps you guessing from beginning to end and keeps you hooked with good solid plot.

In conclusion this was such a good read. Dan Brown does great books and I recommend this book highly (show less)

Deception Point is pulse-pounding and puzzling. Dan Brown's attention to science minutiae involved is overwhelming, as in his other works. Deception Point is pulse-pounding and puzzling. Dan Brown's attention to science minutiae involved is overwhelming, as in his other works. He tackles NASA and its relationship to the U.S. government and national security agencies. Balancing the public's need to know of scientific advances with the need to preserve technology that can be used by terrorists against us, Deception Point puts the president and his main national security advice "gister" on a collision course in the midst of a presidential campaign involving the gister's father. Brown's main characters are finely drawn, yet some of the more minor characters rely on stereotypes to fill in the background needed to more the plot along. This is just a minor irritant. The heroine is smart and self-posessed in a tense situation with which few could cope. At several points, I wondered just how far I would let Brown push my trust as a reader. Some of his leaps I didn't really want to follow, although I was eager to see how the story could possibly be ended in a pleasing way. Though rough in places and obviously not as polished as Brown's later works, Deception Point is fun, fast-paced fiction that I recommend. (show less)

All technologies exist in this novel? Right...

Sure Dan.... I understand leading with that little statement gets people excited but please let me know when you get your underwater and ice rifles.

Does anyone have any insight into why he does it.. seems pointless.
