Accompanied by a team of experts, including the charismatic scholar Michael Tolland, Rachel travels to the Arctic and uncovers the unthinkable: evidence of scientific trickery -- a bold deception that threatens to plunge the world into controversy. But before she can warn the president, Rachel and Michael are ambushed by a team of assassins. Fleeing for their lives across a desolate and lethal landscape, their only hope for survival is to discover who is behind this masterful plot. littérature fast food. A l'image d'un burger. Très vite mangé, costaud et agréable quand on n'a pas envie de grande cuisine. Il faut reconnaitre à Brown sa capacité à faire tourner les pages. J'ai lu cette brique de 700 pages en quelques jours. (show less)

I really enjoyed the book and could not put it down. I like the idea of finding alien life and then... well you will have to just read the book to find out.

I feel in particular he captures the political characters very well. They manipulate so well until you can see into them and they become just human.
The plot itself is incredible. Conspiracy upon conspiricy. Plot twist upon plot twist. The book keeps you guessing from beginning to end and keeps you hooked with good solid plot.
In conclusion this was such a good read. Dan Brown does great books and I recommend this book highly (show less)

Deception Point is pulse-pounding and puzzling. Dan Brown's attention to science minutiae involved is overwhelming, as in his other works. He tackles NASA and its relationship to the U.S. government and national security agencies. Balancing the public's need to know of scientific advances with the need to preserve technology that can be used by terrorists against us, Deception Point puts the president and his main national security advice "gister" on a collision course in the midst of a presidential campaign involving the gister's father. Brown's main characters are finely drawn, yet some of the more minor characters rely on stereotypes to fill in the background needed to more the plot along. This is just a minor irritant. The heroine is smart and self-posessed in a tense situation with which few could cope. At several points, I wondered just how far I would let Brown push my trust as a reader. Some of his leaps I didn't really want to follow, although I was eager to see how the story could possibly be ended in a pleasing way. Though rough in places and obviously not as polished as Brown's later works, Deception Point is fun, fast-paced fiction that I recommend. (show less)

Does anyone have any insight into why he does it.. seems pointless.
