Looking to get lucky?

Stephanie Plum is back between-the-numbers and she’s looking to get lucky in an Atlantic City hotel room, in a Winnebago, and with a brown-eyed stud who has stolen her heart.

Stephanie Plum has a way of attracting danger, lunatics, oddballs, bad luck . . . and mystery men. And no one is more mysterious than the unmentionable Diesel. He’s back and hot on the trail of a little man in green pants who’s lost a giant bag of money. Problem is, t... (show more)

Problem is, the money isn’t exactly lost. Stephanie’s Grandma Mazur has found it, and like any good Jersey senior citizen, she’s hightailed it in a Winnebago to Atlantic City and hit the slots. With Lula and Connie in tow, Stephanie attempts to bring Grandma home, but the luck of the Irish is rubbing off on everyone: Lula’s found a job modeling plus-size lingerie. Connie’s found a guy. Diesel’s found Stephanie. And Stephanie has found herself in over her head with a caper involving thrice-stolen money, a racehorse, a car chase, and a bad case of hives.

Plum Lucky is an all-you-can-eat buffet of thrills, chills, shrimp cocktail, plus-size underwear, and scorching hot men. It’s a between-the-numbers treat no Evanovich fan will want to miss!

I love the Stephanie plum between the numbers novels. Diesel is such a unique character and they always seem to have Briggs in them, too. I was glad that Morelli was almost nonexistant because he is a little too stuffy for my taste. Grandma Mazur was a great main character adding her opinion on everything and I almost wanted to agree with her. Connie got more action in this book and her character really seemed to develop. Lula was Lula and as funny as ever. She is always so shocking. I know Morelli and Stephanie's mom act like Stephanie is shocking, but Lula is the one who makes me gasp. What happens in Stephanie's apartment building elevator is laugh out loud funny. (Read that part to my nine year old son and he loved it, too.) Thankfully, Ranger gets a few lines, but I wish he showed up more. Tank gets a little part, too. (show less)

Janet's back! I really enjoyed reading this book. I read it in 24 hours...couldn't put it down...and laughed constantly through it. I love the Stephanie Plum series, but I'd been disappointed by Fearless Fourteen, which came out last year. I had expected more from it. I went into reading Plum Lucky expecting it to be no more enjoyable than book 14, since the between-the-numbers books typically do not include much action from Ranger (who is my fave!), but it was very very good. Diesel is always a treat. I thought that Rex (Stephanie's pet hamster) was conspicuous in his absence, though. He wasn't even mentioned. What happened to him? Definitely worth a read for all you Plum fans and worth a read for even those who are new to the series and to Evanovich. (show less)

I would say that this may be my least favorite of the series. Don't get me wrong - the book has it's funny moments. If you love the series, you will enjoy this book. However, this felt like she had a brief story line and some new characters to which she added all her old lines about explaining the current characters - and she missed some great opportunities for even more fun. As Jennifer Murphy Williams points out below - Rex the hamster is missing - and what could have been more funny than a scene where Rex meets Doug, the horse? I think this might have been the perfect (and only?) opportunity to have Rex do more than be cute and eat. I book was also missing the usual angst and heat that comes from Stephanie and her many men - everyone is getting a little too complacent. (show less)
