Schindler's List is a remarkable work of fiction based on the true story of German industrialist and war profiteer, Oskar Schindler, who, confronted with the horror of the extermination camps, gambled his life and fortune to rescue 1,300 Jews from the gas chambers.

Heartbreaking, maddening, sad, and real... I liked the portrayal of Schindler as a man who does great things but is real, too. Keneally stresses Schindler's work in helping Jews during the Holocaust, but he paints the whole picture of Oskar Schindler. An emotionally tough read, but worth it!

It really hit hard ... knowing what happened but also finding that one person could stand and make a difference in Hitler's Germany. It gives one hope that there is goodness in the world.
