When cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse sees a naked man on the side of the road, she doesn't just drive on by. Turns out the poor thing hasn't a clue who he is, but Sookie does. It's Eric the vampire--but now he's a kinder, gentler Eric. And a scared Eric, because whoever took his memory now wants his life.

Another fun installment in the Sookie Stackhouse series. These books aren't terribly complex or masterfully written, but they're so enjoyable to read.

I like the devious (real) version of Eric better than the sweeter version we see in this book. Eric is more amusing when he has his edge. I was glad that this book had less Bill. Bill bores me. I think he should just go back to Peru.

I also liked the general plotline of this fourth installment. I wish Charlaine Harris had spent a bit more time inside the witch's coven to expose their planning and plotting. Encounters with the story's main villain were rather brief and meaningless. The story could have been stronger if the reader was able to see inside Hallow's head a bit more before everything came to blows.

I think thus far, this has been my favorite book in the series. I've just started book five today. (show less)

I cant believe it. I have now gone through all of the books written in this series thus far and the plot has reached a point where I feel I could burst and now I have to wait for the next one to be published...oh, I could just die.
First of all, if ever there was a "dream plot" that I would like to be involved in that had me running for my life every 5 minutes, well, the plot of
"Dead to the World" would be it. I can explain in one word quite simply: ERIC.

I have found him to be outrageously appealing from day one and Im only loving him more as the series progresses...just the thought of finding him along the road all vulnerable and in love with me is enough incentive to put up with Sookies unique troubles for a while. Truly, I love the man. I am so anxious to see what is going to develop and I loved the ending. I loved it.... I want that coat. Highly Reccommended. (show less)

Sookie is just being too vague on this. One moment she admits she understands about the whole maker issue-the next moment she acts like Bill is lying again.

I think that some people just don't like him because he's boring. And it's pretty typical for women to stick with other women in agreeing that a man is an ass when it comes to break-up and cheating circumstances.

However, I like what Trinity has to say. ;) I'm not a Bill fan, so I would LOOOOOVE finding out he is the 'bad guy'!

Am I the only one who doesn't think Bill is an ass?

We briefly hear Bill's excuse in the beginning of this story and I believe him. Everyone always says what an asshole Bill is but he says when your maker calls you must come. That makes sense! And then once he got there she threatened Sookie's life! And then she chained him up and tortured him! I'm just now starting the fifth book, but unless Bill does something else horrific I don't see how he's a bad guy.
