And one thing he noticed was that the way he made millions per week in business inside the mob can be applied to doing business outside the mob (minus the illegal part):

Michael Franzese's book is not necessarily groundbreaking, but it put a unique spin on the world of business through the eyes of a former mobster. The most profound aspects of the book are two things. First, are you going to conduct business like Machiavelli or like Solomon? Second, and this was most surprising to me, how something like illegal gambling can compromise your business if any of your employees get wrapped up in it.

I enjoy reading first-hand accounts about "The Life" and the many lessons that can be learned by those who were involved in it. Michael is very entertaining in his observations about "legit" business and how it relates back to his former career as a mob boss. While most of what he teaches is predominately known by business professionals, I think there are a few things you can take away from this book that will at least give you a different perspective. Overall this book has a lot of good information about how to be successful in business, unfortunetly you can find it in a lot of business books. What makes this book worth reading is the stories Michael Franzese has to tell about his life in the mob. I would much rather it had been completely about that and left it to me to find the wisdom in how the mob does business. To clarify, he does show what the mob does wrong as well.

I find Michael Franzese an amazing person that I really want to learn more about. To walk away from millions of dollars and a lifestyle that he had been in his who life to go straight is truly remarkable.
Even though this effort wasn't fantastic, I look forward to reading more from this author. (show less)
