From master of subversive humor Christopher Moore comes a quirky, irreverent novel of love, myth, metaphysics, outlaw biking, angst, and outrageous redemption.

As a boy, he was Samson Hunts Alone -- until a deadly misunderstanding with the law forced him to flee the Crow reservation at age fifteen. Today he is Samuel Hunter, a successful Santa Barbara insurance salesman with a Mercedes, a condo, and a hollow, invented life. Then one day, destiny offers him the dangerous gift of love -- in the exquisite form of Calliope Kincaid -- and a curse in the unheralded appearance of an ancient god by the name of Coyote. Coyote, the trickster, has arrived to reawaken the mystical storyteller within Sam...and to seriously screw up his existence in the process. (show less)

So far, this has been the best book I have read from this author! It may be that I can relate to sides of this story as I have net been able to with others but I would reccommend this book to friends who enjoy laid-back excitement with a twist on spirituality and love and famiy ties. I read this book in two sittings, it was dificult to put down! Also, I appreciated that while there was an air of fantasy (for lack of a better term) to the book it also spoke true to reality with it's feel of the characters and the community of Crow Agency. Certainly the humour makes it a book that most readers could enjoy and the richness of the descriptive writing sends it over the top! If you haven't read this book yet it is time to add it to your collection; join the masses and become a fan of Christopher Moore!! (show less)

  • This became one of my favorite Moore books. While for the hardcore Mooreons, this book may seem tame, and therefore boring, compared to the contents of his other works, I found its focus on spirituality, identity, and the sanctity of love refreshing. This isn't to say that the usual Moore touch for the wild, ridiculous, and a touch scandalous doesn't appear: it does. The book just reflects a more balanced side to Moore's work. That is to say, if Moore's other work is represented by Coyote the... (show more)

That is to say, if Moore's other work is represented by Coyote the Trickster, and realistic fiction is represented by Sam, then Coyote Blue is like Calliope: somewhere in between.
