  • I read this while traveling through Burma and it really added to the experience. Rich in detail and a true delight to read. This is easily one of my favorite historical fiction books now.

  • It's a vivid description, if not blatant critics against the Britons in Burma back in 1800 something when they were massively plundering the teak forest and rubber plantation.. Some of the places is still intact, although the present Burmese is of course a lot different than those back then. There is also a route to go to "Kyauktada" and pay a visit to the old British Club.
