Anyone still interested in reading about government/media propaganda and atrocities should definitely read this one.

Amy Goodman is one of the shining lights in today's media. This book highlights the propaganda that constitutes our national discourse.

EVERYONE needs to read this book! It really opens your eyes to the media -- more than you have ever known or suspected already. I have met Amy Goodman and her brother and they are amazing. There web-site is awesome as well demnow.org. To me the best form of free media -- so stop watching FOX.

A must read for all journalists who entered their career in order to hold the powers that be accountable, rather than just be their mouthpiece. The danger of ignoring the purpose of our business has become all to familiar

  • reading about Bush administration's brutalization of the media may seem masochistic now that the bastard is history, but it's still interesting (and depressing) to read how easily the US media lets itself get manipulated by powers that be. Amy Goodman secures her position as one of my heroes.

Though I have no background in journalism, I will still say this book is a great piece of work. The authors had done excellent, and honest research into the subjects that they wrote about. They also made sure to mark the sources... this is quite close to truth-finding as it gets.

In the past few years, I've always wondered about why some news are reported more often than others... Especially around the time when Hurricane Katrina hit. Yes, we all heard New Orlean and the surrounding areas got flooded real badly, but what puzzled me was what a short period of time it was on the news for. This book answered me that question, and a lot more. Occasionally there would a single piece of news reporting some sort of torture going on related to US' intelligence, but that would be all that there is, I had never heard anyone getting tried for committing war crimes. This book gives much insight into issues as such, some of them quite gruelsome as well. Strongly recommend for anyone who has any interest in what the government had done for you. Very eye opening, and well written. It wasnt a bore to read, which surprised me as it was about the media, government, and such. However, towards the middle and end it just seemed to be the same thing over, and over. But it is still an important book, that I most def recommend!

Well worth reading, even a little after the fact. There were a lot of specifics that I wasn't aware of as far as cases of torture and such in Iraq. Lots of interviews with soldiers.
