Building the Bridge As You Walk On It tells the personal stories of people who have embraced deep change and inspired author Robert Quinn to take his concept one step further and develop a new model of leadership—“the fundamental state of leadership.” The exploration of this transformative state is at the very heart of the book. After each chapter, Quinn challenges you to assess yourself with respect to each practice and to formulate a strategy for personal growth. (show less)

Even though I have not read "Deep Change" the book that preceded "Building a Bridge" - I found this book took me to the depths of my being. I had to wrestle with who I was instead of who others, my employer, even my family wanted me to be. Instead I found that I did not know myself. And as I traveled the journey of this book - I found a new person emerging in me - a new leader - a new husband - a new friend. This book is more than a good read - it is a life changer.

A good book that explores the internal 'soft' skills of leadership. Worth reading for those who have the 'hard' skills down pat, but keep bumping up against the 'soft' skills that true leadership requires.
