  I had never read a full biography of Jean Calvin and was told that this one stood as one of the reference biographies. I wasn't disappointed. This 200-page book describes the full life story of Jean Calvin whilst describing the current political situation in Europe but also Jean Calvin's major writings. It can be a bit of an academic book sometimes, but I would definetely recommend it to anyone wishing to know more on this great man.

  Great book. I never realized how much persecution Calvin faced in his pastorate. One mainly hears about the books he wrote and the sermons he delivered. Geneva comes across as an incredibly godly, submissive society. This book truly brings Calvin and his pastoral experience down to earth. His life is inspiring and edifying.
