With historical insight and vivid storytelling, renowned anthropologist Melvin Konner charts how the Jews endured largely hostile (but at times accepting) cultures to shape the world around them and make their mark throughout historyfrom the pastoral tribes of the Bronze Age to enslavement in the Roman Empire, from the darkness of the Holocaust to the creation of Israel and the flourishing of Jews in America. With fresh interpretations of the antecedents of todays pressing conflicts, Unsettled is a work whose modern-day reverberations could not be more relevant or timely. (show less)

An interesting book, which starts well, but then tends to repeat stuff you may have read elsewhere. The stuff about the early history of the Jewish people is very interesting. If you're new to the subject I'd recomend it, if you've read a bit before, then maybe other than the early chapters you might not get so much from it.

Started out very informative, but I got bored with it. The flow of the story being told was not cohesive. Some parts where annoyingly over-researched while other parts left me wanting more.
