  • This has to be the best book I read this year. A rollicking joyride that takes you down to the depths of despair and then lifts you up on the joyous wings of her writing. Take a fresh look at the place where we live, read this book. Your life will be enriched.

My partner bought this book for a few dollars and I immediately grabbed it and started to read it, almost rudely disregarding the fact that it was her book. It was as if I was possessed and I had to read it, so I was given a pass this time. But in any case, this is a book that changed my life perhaps, at least changed my views of the world around me. The passion, beauty, and terror that Jay instills in this book ring harmonically throughout my body and soul even now, weeks after I finished reading it. This is the kind of book that, after reading, you can't shut up about, and you start to annoy your friends with your incessant babble about the wild element of our crushed spirits. Jay vividly understands that life itself is the wild, and all that is against the wild is against life. (show less)
