this is a must read for a parent of a teen or anyone involved on youth ministry at any level. mcdowell provides sobering stats and insight on why youth ministry is so pivotal in this generation. it is hard to fathom the cultural secularization of the youth of the world, but it is happening. it is our responsibility to step up and be proactive in living our faith and mentoring the youth of our own families and church bodies. I think McDowell has some good things to say here, but I found the book, overall, to be tedious. I think he could have said what he wanted in a booklet and been much better off. (show less)

Anyone having any dealings at all with teens should read this book. It is a very serious read, and very frightening, but also very encouraging because we can influence the lives of the teens in a positive way if we know what they are experiencing. I recommend it highly.

Decent book about the culture of students but doesn't take into effect the changes that had started with those now in their 20's and 30's that led to the patterns being seen in students today. Not really up to McDowell's usual standards.
