No, it's a flop!

Did not like this book much. Made it through about 2 chapters and it did not hold my interest. Maybe I'll try again some other day.

The story of every character in this book is worth a book of its own. He actually did that, in 'Enemies', but somehow it didn't turn out as good as Shadows on the Hudson. In fact I think he wrote Enemies first and the other one later. But anyway, the two books are related.

Meaty, but a little ponderous. I love his fable-like (don't want to say "fabulous", but isn't that what it means?) period better -- magician of lublin, etc..,
