One Thing is a call to move past spiritual contentment into a pursuit of spiritual passion. Dwayne Roberts issues a rallying cry to get past disillusionment, apathy and boredom with God to refocus on one thing: Jesus. "A young adult heart will be renewed in passion when they find out what is in the heart of Jesus toward them," Roberts writes. "When we touch His desire that is toward us, it will awaken an uncontrollable desire for Him."

I gave this book 1.5 stars because that's about how many chapters were actually really good. Dwayne started off the book wonderfully with his story of how God got a hold of him and shifted his focus from what he could DO for God verses God HIMSELF, and ended well with practical steps on how to get there, but in between was just trying to use biblical texts to prove that his point was true.

It could have been so much richer if these three elements were woven together in a more readable way. As it stands, 3/4 of the book bored me, even though the subject matter was great! Not a good thing if a book about God's heart for you comes across as boring! (show less)

Shifted my understanding of Missions. It especially helped me to re-evaluate why I want to go into missions, and has left me convinced that I first must love God where I am right now. He will lead me to missions from my home as well as perhaps abroad, someday.
