It's a hit!
No, it's a flop!

The premise prompted me to pick this one up, as the idea of treasure hunting and history fascinates me. Anyway, the plot had potential, but when I realized the heroine was only 20 in the opening, I almost put the book down for good. Too young, too starry-eyed, to unrealistic. Took me a few days to really get into it, and it wasn't until the middle section (it's divided into 3 sections - past, present, future) that I decided to stick with it. The relationship with Matthew and Tate grated on me at times, but it developed into something much more real by the end. The villian of this story - VanDyke - was quiet scary. Robert's certainly painted a good picture of what happens when our minds take the long walk off the short plank into insanity. (show less)

i loved this book, from start to finish i was hooked, i did however, put this book down a few times, but it was made easier to do this with the breaks between tenses. still, a very interesting and excitign read.
