With the same wicked humor and delicious charm that have won her millions of devoted fans, Sophie Kinsella, author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Shopaholic & Baby, returns with an irresistible new novel and a fresh new heroine who finds herself in a life-changing and utterly hilarious predicament….

When twenty-eight-year-old Lexi Smart wakes up in a London hospital, she’s in for a big surprise. Her teeth are perfect. Her body is toned. Her handbag is Vuitton. Having survived a car accident—in a Mercedes no less—Lexi has lost a big chunk of her memory, three years to be exact, and she’s about to find out just how much things have changed.

Somehow Lexi went from a twenty-five-year-old working girl to a corporate big shot with a sleek new loft, a personal assistant, a carb-free diet, and a set of glamorous new friends. And who is this gorgeous husband—who also happens to be a multimillionaire? With her mind still stuck three years in reverse, Lexi greets this brave new world determined to be the person she…well, seems to be. That is, until an adorably disheveled architect drops the biggest bombshell of all.

Suddenly Lexi is scrambling to catch her balance. Her new life, it turns out, comes complete with secrets, schemes, and intrigue. How on earth did all this happen? Will she ever remember? And what will happen when she does? (show less)

Loved this story! I really enjoy Sophie Kinsella's books and this one did not disappoint. Interestingly, I didn't have huge hopes, but once I got into it, I thought it was well written. It was a touching account of a Lexi, a young woman who awoke with no memory of the last three years of her life and they were pretty significant years. She has to piece together not just what was going on , but who she was. There were some good comical moments, like when she finds out about Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, but it really made you think about how self centered people are. It was amazing how many people did not grasp the consequences of someone not remembering a big chunk of their recent life. I think that there was definitely some unbelieveability going on because as the person with amnesia, she should have or I should say, WOULD HAVE likely been more forthcoming about the issues she was encountering rather than just going about her business without letting on to people the struggles she encountered. But, it's not supposed to be the great American novel. It's supposed to be fun and it really was. (show less)

It is nice to dream that life is like a Sophie Kinsella’s book. Injustices happen, but are fixed by justice right after. All evil characters get what they deserve, and you get rid of them someway. If you have a project, even if apparently too ambitious, you will succeed. If you fall in love with someone, who is always the most gorgeous, rich and nice around, he loves you back. And, most of all, as soon as a person walks in your way, you already know what their real intentions are. So bad the main characters are always so naïve they can enjoy all this only at the end! GREAT book. Loved the story and how it showed that life may not be as perfect as it seems. I really hoped throughout the whole book that the ending would work out how I wanted it to, and it did!

    Quite a surprise! (No spoilers)
Ok, so this is not at all the type of book / story I usually like. But I decided I wanted a little break from my supernatural / vampire / vampire romance / thriller / horror type that I usually read (which I love).
And I have to admit it was quite fun!! I wasn't very much into it at the beginning, but it grabbed my attention after a while; and I didn't like the main character's sister (Amy) at all; but thankfully she only appears a couple of times. It did mak... (show more)

So there’s Lexi, the main character, who has an accident; when she wakes up, she finds out that she has amnesia and she doesn’t remember anything that happened in the last three years. So it’s quite a mess, it’s fun, stressing, and exciting when you see what she goes through while trying to get back her memory.
So to sum up, it is quite entertaining, and it will make you laugh! (show less)

This was another great Sophie Kinsella book. I think she writes the best chick lit.

    memory

Did it bother anybody else that she did not regain much of her memory? I liked the book, but was constantly looking for t he point were she regained her memory in full.

I loved it, but it was very predictable. I guessed things happening before they happened. I'm not normally good at figuring out books, but this book was easy to predict. However, It did have a good moral, and I enjoyed reading it in about 3 days.

    change

i think that the not regaining her memory made her adapt to the changes that had happend. althought these changes were grand and it seemed too hard to accept. she had the courage put herself together otherwise.it teaches us to do the same upon facing changes we often find hard to adapt to.
