She's so inspiring. What I love is that she has moved far beyond words - I heard her speak about groups she has, working directly with young women. Gloria rocks!

Very inspiring. But when I met Gloria Steinem at a reading years ago after the book was published and told her she was my hero, she looked aghast and told me I should be my own hero - which somewhat deflated me as I had worked up the courage to speak to her. Would have been better to have heard, "Thank you, now you should work on being your own hero." But I guess the message is that all heroes have flaws and you should work on your own strengths and flaws.
