This sequel to The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, the first of Anne Rice's elegantly written volumes of erotica, continues her explicit, teasing exploration of the psychology of human desire. Beauty, having indulged in a secret and forbidden infatuation with the rebellious slave Prince Tristan, is sent away from the Satyricon-like world of the castle. Once again Rice's fabulous tale of pleasure and pain dares to explore the most primal and well-hidden desires of the human heart.

No, it's a flop!

I was so bored........it seemed more comical that erotic.....for some reason it reminded me of the story 'Candide'

Anne Rice (published originally under the nom de plume of A.N. Roquelaure) dives headfirst and unapologetically into S/M eroticism in her "Sleeping Beauty" trilogy, of which Beauty's Punishment is the second installment. Anne Rice (published originally under the nom de plume of A.N. Described by the publisher as "an erotic novel of discipline, love and surrender for the enjoyment of men and women," there's no sugar-coating it here; this book contains page after page after page of intensly vivid and graphic scenes of s/m, sexual humiliation, bondage, spankings. The trilogy is an erotic update of the Sleeping Beauty fable; Beauty is a sexual slave who rebels against her masters and in this installment she is sent, along with her forbidden love Prince Tristan, to a village where rebellious slaves are ceaselessly humiliated, degraded and...well, treated like sexual slaves... in an effort to break down their willful natures. Its unapologetically pornographic, so be forewarned if you're thinking about checking it out. Its nice to see a writer of Rice's stature willing to craft an erotic story that leans heavily on the pornographic and isn't afraid to immerse itself in one of the admittedly deeper and darker corners of eroticism and desire. However, I would recommend starting with the first book, The Claiming Of Sleeping Beauty, if any of this sounds like its...um...up your alley. (show less)

I didn't read this one very thoroughly but I read it nonetheless.. My opinion is still much the same as my review of the first book. Its getting little boring because all there is is sex and punishment.. and more sex.. The story is all about Beauty and her capture and then her punishment when she is sent from the castle to the village.. Now she has been captured again and send to a sheik. At one point the story got a bit more interesting with one of the prince slaves Tristan as he learns his... (show more)

At one point the story got a bit more interesting with one of the prince slaves Tristan as he learns his true inner struggle and a master he can love.. and then his is captured by the same sheik that Beauty is. I am curious about the next book but I dont know when I will read it. (show less)
