The best book that I have ever read concerning missions is John Piper’s, Let the Nations Be Glad! The Supremacy of God in Missions. The best book that I have ever read concerning missions is John Piper’s, Let the Nations Be Glad! The Supremacy of God in Missions. He begins the book with a simple phrase, and its presence goes on to perpetrate, permeate, and dominate the entirety of the book: “Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is.” Mr. Piper’s exaltation of God as the Supremely Sovereign Creator, who is enthralled in His complete righteousness is both breathtaking and soul reviving. Piper, in usual fashion explains that God must desire only that which is righteous, and since righteousness, that which is pure, is Him alone, then He must desire himself to remain righteous. And buttressed along side this causality of God is the truth that: “God is most glorified in us, when we are most satisfied in him.” Additionally, there is in this book, as well as his others, a manifestation of Piper’s passion in the way that he lives life, and he expounds on this thesis that one should make: “The Supremacy of God in all things for the joy of all peoples through Jesus Christ” their own personal aim as well.
