In the beginning there was a mild Scepticism attached to adding Mary Jane a character close to Mona and randomly inserted into the story... though in comparison adding Ash seemed more natural for some strange reason. A good conclusion to the first two books the end left me wanting more but somewhere around the middle the books slowed down a little too much for my tastes though it was better paced then Lasher. It took a large step away from the Mayfair family and what was added in regards to them seemed slightly like an after thought the story being more about Ash and the Talmasca. This book did not really seem to conclude anything to do with Rowan or Mona and I just don't know what I feel about this book. Probably relief that the series is over, though in general the series was a good read and this book was my second favourite out of the three. (show less)

I adore this series by Rice. Personally, the character development of Rowan has only allowed me to fall more in love with her, she's a wise quiet soul who seeks knowledge and understanding within her disguised power. The entanglement she showcases from her two very different sides of the Mayfair tragic family make her all the more a role model for character development. Rice has done an interesting thing with the development of the Taltos in comparing the human condition to something of a dichotomy in which we are childish until we die and commit sins unspeakable to those closest to us and those that frighten us the most are those we wish to worship with the utmost zealous fervor. Taltos is by far the worst of the Mayfair books. And after reading most of Rice's books this only ranks above her Beauty series in my eyes. The first two books were highly entertaining to read and Lasher was my favorite of the three. So to follow up Lasher with the needless Taltos tale was highly disappointing. I believe the entire book could have been condensed into the end of Lasher within a few chapters for series closure. Having said that, I'd still recommend reading it if you enjoye... (show more)

Having said that, I'd still recommend reading it if you enjoyed the first two books simply to get the story's conclussion and for nothing more. (show less)
