Ranger is former special forces turned soldier of fortune. He has a blue-chip stock portfolio and no known address. He moves in mysterious circles. He's Stephanie's mentor--the man who taught her everything she knows about fugitive apprehension. And he's more than her friend.
Now he's the hunted and Stephanie's the hunter, and it's time for her to test her skills against the master. But if she does catch him...what then? Can she bring herself to turn him in?
Plus there are other things keeping Stephanie awake at night. Her maternal grandmother has set up housekeeping in Stephanie's apartment, a homicidal maniac has selected Stephanie as his next victim, her love life is in the toilet, she's adopted a dog with an eating disorder, and she can't button the top snap on her Levi's.
Experience the world of Plum--in Janet Evanovich's new thriller. It's surreal, it's frenetic, it's incendiary. Hot Six. It's the best yet.

***SPOILER***
I really wish that Evanovich didn't write Stephanie as such an incompetent, violence-hating bounty hunter. The apprehensions she tried to make and failed at were so ridiculous I was embarrassed for her. If she made her more fearless and kick-ass like Alex Barnaby in her Alex Barnaby series, I'd enjoy it a lot more. I still don't know if Stephanie plans on stringing along both guys at once, but I hope neither one gets hurt and I hope she makes a decision soon. This book was good but not great. Stephanie is such a weakling and so nice and trusting that she always gets taken advantage of and I don't like reading about weak heroines/protagonists. When will Stephanie say "I love you (too)" to Morelli? And what happened to Bronfman in High Five? I thought he wanted to see Lula; did anything happen between them? Overall, this book was sort of mediocre, but it could have been better like High Five. 2.5/5 stars. (show less)

My trashy crime novels. Stephanie Plum is a bounty hunter in Trenton, New Jersey. She lives with her pet hamster Rex, keeps her gun in the cookie jar, and is always getting in over her head. Her side-kicks Lula, an ex-prostitute, and her crazy Grandma Mazur are often there to make things worse. Joe Morelli, her on-again, off-again cop boyfriend, and Ranger, her hunky bounty hunter friend, are either there to save the day or to witness her amazing, and often hilarious, success. The books ... The books have some bad language in them, in keeping with the spirit of the characters, but they are mostly just funny. Easy reads and a fun escape. (show less)

This was okay. Definitely some funny moments, but I didn't like the ending. There 's a lot to be said for unrequited lust. At the same time, who knows what happened...
