Required Reading?
I am one of those people. I hate having to hurry and read a story and then get tested on it. I read it again after I graduated high school and loved it. I got to read the story at my own pace and I got to enjoy it instead of worrying about what difficult question was going to be on the test the next day.

I totally agree with that. I have no idea why I kept this book, but I found it 15 years after high school when I was looking through some old boxes. I read it through completely that night, and I discovered why I had always had a deep desire to attend a school like that. It was because that book had such a profound impact on me. This is a great read.
Facebook User about 1 year agowell if you are really a loser, maybe you should. i read this when i had my upgrade in summer school and i hated it.
Facebook User 11 months agoI am reading this for my English class, and I am actually enjoying it. I usually don't enjoy required reading, but this book got my attention. Most of my class does not like the book, however.
Hillary Husband 9 months agoi had to read this in 10th grade never finished it.
Barira Masood 8 months agosince i hate leaving a book in the middle, i finished it later. it wasn't so bad.

Jana Michelle Simmons 5 months agoA Separate Peace was the first required reading assignment I had entering high school. I was in the ninth grade and I absolutely loved it. It was nice getting to read something that dealt with people my own age (or close to it). I don't think anyone likes being "forced" to read something but sometimes those books we wouldn't have chosen to read on our own are the books that resonate the most with us. I really thank my english teacher for requiring books like this.
Facebook User 5 months agoi too enjoyed the book, even though it was required reading.
Shawn Martin 5 months agoI think you guys are probably right. Making it a requirement can cause dislike for a book. I actually read this book the summer before it became an asssingment (without knowing that it would be). And I've read it at least twice since.
