This book was introduced to me by a study group I joined up with this summer. I am going to say chapters 7 and 8 are probably the ones that interested me the most.
Quote from chapter 7, "The moment awareness of His divine presence begins, the deepest personal struggle a person can experience begins as well."
Chapter 8 speaks of how we, as believers, are called saints (holy ones), and yet we are still sinners. This can be confusing and comforting all-together. As a Christian, I hav... (show more)

Chapter 8 speaks of how we, as believers, are called saints (holy ones), and yet we are still sinners. This can be confusing and comforting all-together. As a Christian, I have been set-apart by Christ's righteousness, but I am still a sinner. As I grow in my faith, I pray the fruit of the spirit will continue to become a part of who I am and what I do. I see the Saints who have been canonized in the Roman Catholic Church to have gone above and beyond to give themselves as living sacrifices and examples to the saints (believers) of today. Great read on a basic level, using history and unassuming bibical interpretation to relay Theology in a fun, cant-put-it-down fashion. The Holiness of God reminds me - yet again! - that my salvation, through Christ's propitiatory death, isn't obligatorily given, but is still an act of God's kindness, mercy and grace. I love the way Dr. Sproul explains complex items on the common level, without being pretensious. This book helped me to see the importance of taking God seriously in my life a... (show more)

This book helped me to see the importance of taking God seriously in my life and realize that while I can't DO things to deserve God's grace, I can happily live a life of appreciation for Jesus' gift on the cross, yet I can;t take a breath without Him giving it to me. This book helped me to understand the surpassing joy of living life as a sacrifice to God and not to the worldy pleasures that turn to dust.
I recommend this book to any new Christian. This was the 1st book my mentor gave me and it wowed me and drew me into deeper study of Scripture, where, of course God's Word was learned and found to be inerrant. I love his explanation of the Greek, Latin and Hebrew words and phrases. I double-checked his Greek interpretations and found no fault therein. Through the reading of "The Holines of God", the pursuit of holiness and living our lives and understanding God's commandments (Hebrew 'Mitzvah'), and how it consistently points to Scripture for proof, I am more and more BLOWN AWAY by the wisdom and beauty and practicality and richness of the Bible. It amazes me to think that I’ll be mining this book (the bible) for the rest of my life, and yet I’ll never cease to unearth its treasures, new and old. I also know I'll be reviewing THOG and suggesting it to many others along my path. (show less)
