Wow. I definitely liked this way better than the previous novel in the series. In fact, I absolutely adored it! Lena is back to her beautiful, myst... (show more)
Girls in Pants The Third Summer of the Sisterhood
The Pants first came to us at the perfect moment. That is, when we were splitting up for the first time. It was two summers ago when they first worked their magic, and last summer when they shook up our lives once again. You see, we don’t wear the Pants year-round. We let them rest so they are extra powerful when summer comes. (There was the time this spring when Carmen wore them to her mom’s wedding, but that was a special case.)
Now we’re facing our last summer together... (show more)

Now we’re facing our last summer together. In September we go to college. And it’s not like one of those TV shows where all of us magically turn up at the same college. We’re going to four different colleges in four different cities (but all within four hours of one another—that was our one rule). We’re headed off to start our real lives.
Tomorrow night at Gilda’s we’ll launch the Pants on their third summer voyage. Tomorrow begins the time of our lives. It’s when we’ll need our Pants the most.

Not a real winner... The series as a whole is a quick, simple read, and it's pretty good as long as you are expecting the right thing when you pick them up. None of these books will ever be great works of literature, but at least the others were entertaining. This one was just okay. It just didn't seem significant... like Ann Brashares had to write something just to get to the final book, so she threw a few words down on paper... or maybe it was just like she was running out of material. It seemed repetitive. I had to finish, though, so I did keep reading through this one and the final book. The fourth one gets a little better, so if you're struggling through this one, keep reading. The number of reviews of the third book in a series is a tribute to the series itself--it has remained a true voice to girls at this phase of development. THe friends are on the cusp og going to college--high school is behind them, being freshmen is just ahead, and there are a number of crises that are not related to this age--Tibby's sister has a near fatal accident, Carmen's mother has a baby, Lena's grandfather dies and her father brings his mother to their house. But a number of things are very age appropriate--Lena is still in love with her first love and unable to engage with another boy who is attracted to her, Carmen is having her first relationship, Tibby is getting ready to take her friendship to a relationship level, and Bee is able to re-address her crush with more grown-up way. There are no distracting other friends, no mean behavior (everyone isn't perfect, but they address it retrospectively rather than burying it). (show less)

I though this book was very well written and I LOVED it. I thought it was a great end to there high school years. I was really amazed at how much bridget has grown up. When she sees Eric again, I think she was extremly responible about it. I know I would have tried to avoid him no matter what I had to do, and I was also proud of Tibby, when she helped Carmen's mom give birth. I though it was kind of out of character, but in a good way, like she was comming out of her shell, and becoming more ... (show more)
