I've almost lost myself in the magical world of this amazing book! The story, the characters, the atmosphere and Barcelona itself - it attracts you so powerfully that you forget about the real world...

A cast of characters as memorable as from any classic. A tragic tale, full of mystery, suspense, and a coming of age story of a young boy who discovers a book by a mysterious author in a place called 'The Cemetery of Forgotten Books'. Downright funny in places and absolutely terrifying in others, this work is a marvel. Beautifully translated from the original in Spanish, it is heartening to know that one can still pick up a book from a present day author, and be instantly transported to anoth... (show more)

Too creepy for me. Good story, good page turner, but it went really "out there." I can only really describe the book as really weird.

I've given up on it. Just can't get into it somehow. It is nothing to do with the prose which is excellent, but I cannot relate to the characters. It's a case of I couldn't care less what happens to them

Ooooh!!! So many reviews!!! I don't think mine would make any difference, but anyway:) What can I say? I loved the book, it is a very fabulous story filled with mistery, romance, murder, adventure..I imagined it a little bit different before, I thought it was going to be more a political thriller rather than an adventurous tale, nevertheless I utterly enjoyed and might read some others Zafon's novels one day:)
