Donate your status and pledge to have conversations from the heart with your friends and family for equality. You can set the frequency of status updates counting down to National Coming Out Day and, if you choose, customize them with how you identify. A simple conversation can change the lives of people you care about.
How do I donate my status in support of equality?
Simply click the 'Donate Status' tab above and complete the donate status form.
Why do I need an app to update my status?
By adding Conversations From the Heart now, you can rest assured that your support for equality will be known on October 10 and 11 while you are out celebrating! Using the app is also an easy way to countdown to National Coming Out Day and encourage other people to donate their statuses in support of equality.
How long am I donating my status for?
Your status will update based on the frequency you choose and on October 10 and 11. After National Coming Out Day, Conversations From the Heart will not update your status.
What information about me is used?
After clicking the 'Donate Status' tab, Facebook will display a standard permissions request screen. A very limited subset of your profile information is used by the Conversations From the Heart Application to power the countdown to National Coming Out Day and to make it easy to donate your status.
No photos or information about your friends is ever accessed or stored. When you complete the donate status form, we store what you submit to update your status according to the frequency you specify. We take your privacy very seriously and your information will only be used for this purpose and in accordance with HRC's privacy policy.
How do I invite my friends and family to donate their statuses?
At any time, click the 'Share' tab. You can either invite your friends and family by sending them an application invite or by copying the sample message and using Facebook's built-in message feature. You can also encourage the non-Facebook users in your life to join the conversation for equality through Twitter or email.
Why can I only invite x number of friends?
Facebook limits the number of application requests sent by each person, per day. If you have reached the limit, you can still encourage your friends and family to join you by sending a message through Facebook. Otherwise, wait a day and then invite more!
How do I change the frequency of status updates?
After you have donated your status, you can go back to the 'Donate Status' tab any time to change the frequency of updates or how you chose to identify. Please note that changing your settings will also update your current status.
