Not a lot can be said. A functioning film that strips the book down to the bare bones. Acting? Is there any when the dialogue is there to move the plot along as fast as possible. SFXs? Good and up to scratch. And that's it really not much else. For the fans then and they're being short changed. We saw with The Lord of the Rings that adaptations could go near to the three hour mark and people would sit still for it. Why then as the books get longer, the Potter films are staying around the same running time or don't getting the ‘directors cuts’ treatment on DVD where extra footage could be re-inserted? Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix is the longest book Jo Rowling wrote in the Harry Potter series but it is also the most tedious. Very good but kind of winding, this movie shows Harry's mental battle with Voldemort finally leading to a battle with the Death Eaters and another scary metnal battle. This movie itself has AMAZING life principles and these can be applied to life. Good vs Evil being the easiest one to pick up. Noticed that when the good guys lie down the badies take over, ... This movie itself has AMAZING life principles and these can be applied to life. Good vs Evil being the easiest one to pick up. Noticed that when the good guys lie down the badies take over, this is what nearly happened when Dumbledore stepped aside. Apparently he was trying to protect Harry but, in my opinion, he had made the biggest mistake of his life. This movie also has a dark feel to. If you watchthe first one, everything looks warm, like a fire but in the fifth movie, everything looks cold and bare, no fire. The director and the director of cinematography have done an amazing job on this movie and should keep going, because, afterall, no one really wants to leave Harry, do they? (show less)

Recently watched this for the second time and I was surprised at how much less I enjoyed it than the first time. Maybe because I was seeing it soon after seeing the sixth one at the cinema, but I was a little insulted by it. It seems so sloppily written and edited, with questionable special effects. And of course I know you can't fit an 800 word book into a 2hr movie but some of the liberties taken in the film, things missed or rationalised, disappointed me. Where was all the Harry angst ... Where was all the Harry angst that characterised the book, getting angry at his friends and Dumbledore? Where were the shocks of McGonagall getting zapped? Or Harry and co finding out the truth about Neville? Where was all the action at the Department of Mysteries; the brain room, the time room? And numerous other small things that just didn't sit right with me.
Luna Lovegood single-handedly rescues this film from being a shambles, she's absolutely wonderful in the books and it's clear on screen aswell.
It was always going to be a tough ask given the source material, but the sixth film managed that beautifully, so... Having two final films seems like a good idea. (show less)Watched
