After hearing rumors of the struggles Marvel was having getting the movie made - and seeing production stills that were so painfully bad I was sure that this movie would never be made. I don't know the whole history behind it - but another company had optioned the movie rights, and they lost their funding or something, so they cranked out a really bad movie and there were legal issues about getting the movie rights back so that Marvel could do the movie.

Whatever, the movie does well. The actor who plays Johnny Storm is fun to watch - though at times a bit over the top with being a cut-up and reckless kid.

A fun movie. Enjoy. (show less)

I had been saving this movie for a long time to watch when I was in more of an "action-y" mood. When I did watch it, it was with a friend. Unfortunately, the wait wouldn't have mattered because if I had known how bad the movie was, I would have waited forever.. and then a little.

I don't know which was worse, the cheesy effects? Or Jessica Alba?

The movie itself isn't terrible, it's just the contributions to the movie or lack thereof. It was kind of like one of those films that never got another good advertisement to generate any money. My personal opinion is that there just wasn't enough funding to do a really excellent job.

It had a slow moving plot, and a kind of stupid "villain," that just wasn't very original. Marvel has been getting a kick in the ass for everything they do wrong- and on top of that, they have been having a hard time just keeping alive. It's sad that something like this comes out and just ruins it more.

Oh and when I said I was waiting for a more "action genre" movie mood- I was expecting action. There was hardly any! (show less)

This started out with an excellent story and looked like it was going to be an excellent movie, but about half-way through, I heard the director say "Ah, what the heck, just spend the next hour tearing apart New York City." But it has Jessica Alba in a skin-tight suit, and is therefore worth the price of the DVD just for that. Still, the movie could have been something magnificent.
