Armageddon
When NASA's executive director, Dan Truman (Thornton), realizes the Earth has 18 days before it's obliterated by a meteor the size of Texas, he has only one option -- land a ragtag team of roughneck oil drillers on the asteroid and drop a nuclear warhead into its core.

It is hard for me to quantify just how much I hate this movie. The plot borders on the absurd. The characters are mindless in their utterly predictable and stereotypical behavior. And the science is only believable to a child who thinks superfriends are real. I mean, in space flight, where weight is at a premium, why the HELL would they mount a machine gun on their lunar buggy?!?! Were they planning on meeting hostile aliens? Or did they predict that the "heroes" would need to... (show more)

The thing I like about Michael Bay (of which there are very few) is that he doesn't pretend to be anything more than what he is. Prior to his film career he directed music videos. And, unlike someone like David Fincher or Spike Jonze, he doesn't really aspire to be more. He's the same director, he just works in a different medium. He still makes music videos, only with more story and less music. For him, movies are style over substance. What you see is more important than what you feel (or if... (show more)

You are meant to watch his movies for the ride, not because of any artistic merit. Like fast food, they aren't good for you, but are cheap and enjoyable. With that said, Ben Affleck seriously needs to stop making movies. (show less)
