DrupalCon Presentation

For those who missed my presentation at DrupalCon, a video of the talk is available, thanks to Mark B.

And, the slides are available, too.

New features display facebook data on Drupal pages

Until now, Drupal for Facebook has been primarily concerned with serving up canvas pages. That is, taking content, blocks, menus and other elements rendered by Drupal, and displaying them on Facebook. The other half of the integration, getting information from Facebook and displaying it on a Drupal-powered site, has been largely ignored.

Now a Drupal project. Source code available.

Drupal for Facebook now has an official home on Drupal.org:
http://drupal.org/project/fb

Do read the README.txt as it contains important instructions. Installing Drupal for Facebook is not as simple as most module installs.

Please submit issues (with patches!) to the issue queue.

Adding content just to see it work

I've cleaned up the front page. There was too much "just testing" content, and the default settings had it promoted to the front page.

If you just want to see Drupal for Facebook work, or you want to see how a particular piece of markup will look, then post a forum topic in the Test Content forum.

Or, create a story. Starting now, it won't be published to the front page so most likely nobody else will see it.

Now showing content on profile pages

Hopefully, you'll start to see a list of most recent posts on you profile pages, if you've added the Drupal for FB app.

I've built the view to look somewhat like a Facebook discussion group. Notice the navigation menu has both "Discussion board" and the more familiar "Recent posts". These display essentially the same thing, only the "Discussion board" is made to look more familiar to Facebook users.

Its a work in progress. Let me know if you encounter any issues.

Register an account

To register an account here, simply add the application. Visit the application page and you'll need a facebook account if you don't have one already.

Then you can post forum topics and stories. But this site is under development. We may have to wipe out the data occasionally, so don't post anything too precious.

Have fun exploring Drupal for Facebook!

Drupal For Facebook Launched!

Welcome to the new home of Drupal for Facebook.

This project aims to bring the power of Drupal to facebook applications.

These pages are a live demonstration of an app built on top of Drupal for Facebook. Keep checking back, as new features will be added in the next few weeks.
