Hi all, how are you doing? they say its gonna rain this week and i hate the rain but Mommy bought me a new raincoat, pink with lil hearts on, wow I have 4 now and Mommy says thats good cos if one gets wet there are back ups - ewwwwwww rain. Games to play with your dog Memory 2 identical containers can't see through, place treat under one with dog watching, send dog out of room, put in sit wait, place treat under other cup so both smell the same, call dog back in (as they improve make them wait longer) see if they rememebr to goto right container. Reading body language 6 identical containers - Dog in sit wait - watches you put treat in one, then you mix them up, (first you point at one) does dog go to that one, if he does open and give treat. Progress to a nod at correct one, and then just staring at correct one. Rico's Test Retrieve different articles by name so if you throw two the dog gets the correct one, (train by throwing one of two articles at a time, and saying fetch ball/ fetch Tug) The dog will be learning the names, then when you throw two, ask for one of them and reward your dog only for bringing that one back. More obvious ones Memory and ability to look under towel topple over cup Dog in Sit Wait - Treat/ Toy on Floor Put Towel or container on top, release dog TRACKING - Nose work On woodland walk one person goes ahead of dog 100 - 200m, and steps of path and hides, calls dog and then remains silent, other person releases dog - so it has to track along path and work out where person went of the path and find them Treasure hunt Walk around house hiding treats with you dog (needs a good leave, or put dog on lead) return to room without treats. ( vary length of time before you release dog) to fing them all. Does he remember all the places you went.
