I congratulate Kirkman for creating a character whose death I actually cared about. Now I am heartbroken. I feel like one of my friends has died. But I understand. When you create a universe in your head sometimes the characters who you love die and you have no control over it. I am expecting Mark to go Super Sayajin in issue 64.
Who's the joker who put Kreisberg's name on this? I dunno if I should be amused that someone'd make such a silly mistake, or offended that they'd neglect two quality writers to attribute it to, of all people, Kreisberg.
Aquaman was 1 of my favorite DC characters. The Quest for Mera which took place in Aquaman Vol. 1 #42-#47 (I think) was a mighty fine story line.There were 3 or 4 subplots & they all tied in together. The Jim Aparo art was just super.
We need to correct the title in the other edition. Nowhere else, including the cover, have I seen the 70th anniversary notation lead the title.

The opening scene of the book certainly teases us with where the story will be going in the following issues. I also like the developing relationship between Dick Grayson and Damian. As annoying as Damian can be, Dick's tutelage, plus his own adjustment to assuming the role of Batman makes for an interesting story.
As to the cover, Dick Grayson as the smirking Batman might have been more interesting, but much less menacing than the scowling version.
Yeah, he lost me with the Batman of Zan Un Rah. Plus all the stuff about Bruce Wayne's parents being really alive... I don't think any of that was cleared up properly... and the ending seemed really rushed. All that build up and then boom! It was like, oh, is that the time? I have to wrap this up and move on.
Vigilante is the name used by several fictional characters appearing in DC Comics. The original character was one of the first DC Comics characters adapted for live-action film, beating Superman himself by one year.

I knooow man! God, how long ago was #25? The fact the story maintained it's lure and above-par suspense is truly a testament to Johns (and Tomasi ofcourse, whose KILLING it with GLC) penmanship.
This was an incredible issue. I should've seen that twist in the end coming ages ago, but I just never though of it really. Black Hand is fucked up in all kinds of ways, and even tho it feels Johns was going over the top with his necrophilia, I still got a chill down my spine. This man is twisted (the bit when he discusses his first kiss...jesus how freaky was that?!)
Superb issue, and what a way to lead us into Blackest Night #1. So hyped.
Also, Mankhe is PERFECT for this book. His art is stellar.

I think the reason you (and many others) found Batman RIP confusing is the fact Morrison has been obsessed lately with trying to tie up the entire history of the comic (which he did again later on in Final Crisis). Which is an aspect I greatly enjoyed, esp with Batman of Zan Un Rah. I don't think it was confusing at all tho. That scene with Bat-Mite is perfect; when batman says he can hear the city speaking to him (or something to that extent) Gotham -built- Batman, and Dr. Hurt is the devil, the dragon at the end of days attempting to corrupt the bat, The representation of darkness that is in reality the brightest light. The motifs Morrison played with were amazingly subtle. And honestly, the fact Batman prepared an alternate persona in case his bruce wayne identity was maniplualted...freaking epic. I love that about Morrison's Batman, his intelligence and capabilities are second to none, something present from the first time Morrison handled in his JLA run. Remember when the alien leader was saying: he's just one man! and then the panel closed up to superman smiling? one of my fav comic book moments ever.
That'll teach me -- I didn't read the whole solicit -- I thought it was just another reprint of the first couple of issues. Doh!
Should be one of the most intreaging story lines in the DC Universe, I've been waiting for this for almost two years now I think. Can't remember how long its been since I've heard about The Darkness Rising, but it's going to be good. Great first issue, reveals a bit about Black Hand and what he is to the Black Lanterns
it happens too often to be the artists fault already. and maybe if the payoff was even worth it, and boy that'd have to be a great payoff lemme tell you.
yeah, some of it was his fault, tho' some of it was the artist... lot of times some of the scenes were poorly composed and you couldn't follow the action in any way that made sense. I wasn't happy with that arc at all.
Intriguing,to say the least.Controversial ending,i'm sure,but off to a good start.This should more than make up for the Final Crisis mess.

I dunno... I didn't like Morrison's R.I.P. (found it too confusing), but now that this story's going, it seems like it could be a fun ride. Besides, they never actually found a body for Bruce Wayne. If it doesn't work, they can always bring him back.

By far one of my favorite stories! Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee created one hell of a character with this book that has since not been able to be shown so amazing as these two have portrayed Bob, the story of a man with much angst and internal conflict, the epitome of humanity at it's worst and best that it forever wishes to be.

This is the beginning of the "Reborn" storyline that will (presumably) return Steve Rogers to the Marvel Universe (where no one ever seems to stay dead, with the possible exception of Peter Parker's Uncle Ben). This is a loaded issue, bookended by a couple of reprints: A brief Captain America origin story by Alex Ross and Paul Dini, and a classic from the 1940s by Stan Lee and Al Avison. In between, there's are three main stories. The first has Ed Brubaker working with a bunch of artists (Butch Guice, Howard Chaykin, Rafael Albuquerque, David Aja, and Mitch Breitweiser) on a current-storyline focusing on Sharon Carter, the Avengers, and a bunch of Cap's supporting cast. Considering that it was rapidly jumping from scene to scene, it worked remarkably well. I particularly liked the segment involving Rikki Barnes and Elijah Bradley. "Im Memoriam" by Roger Stern and Kalman Andrasofszky looks at some of the supporting cast from past storylines and does a nice job of delivering some emotional impact to what was probably a fairly goofy storyline when it was originally presented. The third story deals with a Captain America memorabilia auction. It has some good moments, but I found it confusing at a couple points, possibly just because I'm unfamiliar with some of the characters who were involved. Mark Waid wrote the script for "The Persistence of Memorabilia", and the art was by Dale Eaglesham. Extras in the book included a nostalgic bit of history in an essay by Joe Simon, and a gallery of (tiny images of) classic covers. Overall, this book accomplished its purpose as a sentimental look back on the history and symbolism of Captain America over the years, while still advancing the current plot and setting the stage for the big upcoming story.
Fantastic!! If this mini-series had been actually part of the latest movie, no one would have walked away upset, no matter which version they liked/loved.

This issue was so much cooler than I expected it to be. Usually I'm no fan of time travel in comics, but this was fantastic.
Ironically, despite my feeling that the writer's lost whatever credibility he might have possessed prior to taking on this series, this issue actually was a good one, and actually felt like it belonged.

DC has started a lot of 'back-up' stories recently -- I think Henry is doing the backup in this one and Mr. Manupul is doing the main feature. Don't have a real clear way to distinguish them during the imports as of yet :-(

Savvy writer, superb humorist, refreshing- in a word, I find most of Garth Ennis' portfolio - brilliant.
Good story, and yet disappointing at the same time. First reason has to do with timing. Oliver Queen is dead, and Connor Hawke has taken over the role of Green Arrow. So why choose to focus on Oliver Queen yet again. Second, where are the trick arrows that Ollie used to use in his early years?

One of the freshest takes on the Batman and Robin characters in a long time. The shift of the character dynamics really adds a new tone and direction to a title that's been cast in the abyss of done-to-death. Love seeing new characters and an unsettling new villain. Batman being unsure but holding up a facade for the sake of the head strong but ready to go over the deep end Robin is brilliant.
Frank Quietly's sketchy art is a perfect marriage to Grant Morrison's off-kilter world. I enjoy that His version of Batman LOOKS like Dick Grayson in the Batman outfit instead of just drawing the same, buffed out Batman. And I love the return to hand-drawn sound effects to replace the sterile typset "BLAMS" that decorate most panels these days.
I can see how this major shift from the norm can be unsettling to people who don't like to have their Batman out of the box, but judging from the latest entries into the bat-saga, I can only hope that Bruce Wayne's death is a not-so-speedy recovery. Definitely recommend this title for all artistically minded comics aficionados!

WTF!!!! When did Superboy come back!!??? Well I don't care...he's one of my favorite superheroes. I was mad as hell when they killed him off in Infinite Crisis.
This was one of my personal favourites when I first heard about Infinite Crisis. Thought each and every one of the character's, expecially Adam Strange, really well wrote.

Mark Shaw was a public defender, unhappy about how easily criminals manipulated the system and got off without punishment. Shaw's uncle Desmond introduced him to an ancient sect of crime fighters called the Manhunters. Shaw contacted the Grand Master, the sect's leader, through a magical lion medallion. Shortly, he assumed the Manhunter name and costume from a previous Manhunter.[1],[2]
Mark Shaw later reappeared and the Manhunter sect and was shown to be comprised of androids, created billions of years before by the Guardians of Oa to police the galaxy. For millennia, they served the Guardians well. However, the Manhunters became obsessed with the act of 'hunting' criminals. Their code, "No Man Escapes The Manhunters", became more important to them than seeing justice done. Eventually, the androids rebelled against the Guardians, but were swiftly defeated by their creators. Those that survived went into hiding.[3]
The latter-day Manhunters attempted to disgrace the Guardians with Mark Shaw at their side. They were opposed by the JLA, especially by League member Green Lantern. Shaw realized that he had been duped by the Manhunters and turned on them, killing the Grand Master, who was revealed to be a robot. Mark Shaw quickly returned as a new hero called the Privateer, but it was soon revealed that he was also working as a villain called the Star-Tsar, in league with the Key. The Red Tornado discovered this deception and Shaw went to prison.[4]
While in the midst of serving his sentence, Shaw was offered the chance to accompany the Suicide Squad on a mission as the Privateer, and was released when the mission was completed. In the wake of the Millennium crisis, he donned a new costume to distance himself from the Manhunter cult, and had his own adventures. Shaw now hunted costumed criminals for the bounty. He kept insisting that he was just operating for the money, but he kept finding himself doing the right thing.
During this time, he and his family were threatened by two shape-shifters named Dumas. Shaw killed the first Dumas and his battle with the second led him to give up the Manhunter identity. It was later revealed that Mark Shaw was actually himself Dumas and much of his history was actually the result of mental programming by the US Government.[6] Shaw joined the Shadow Fighters in order to battle the supervillan Eclipso. It was assumed that Mark Shaw was killed opposing Eclipso alongside his other team members in the Shadow Fighters. This was soon revealed not to be the case.
He was actually undercover at the time he was facing Eclipso, masquerading as his old enemy Dumas at the behest of Sarge Steel.
Very little is known about the Space Cabby's early life, including his true name. What is known however, is that he was born some time in the early 21st century and orphaned at a young age. He was taken in and raised by the militaristic rulers of a planet called Ghengkis VII. During his youth, the Cabby found that he had a natural affinity for flying and quickly developed skills in piloting and navigation. By the time he was an adult, he was an expert with flying nearly any make or model of interstellar ship.
In the year 2146, the Space Cabby was involved in a conflict known as the Bored Wars, where he purportedly shot down a record number of opposing fighter craft over the course of three days. The war was bloody but short, and soon after, the Space Cabby was released from active service.
Over the next decade, the Space Cabby traveled the universe working at a variety of odd jobs ranging from menial labor to mercenary soldier of fortune. During this time, he encountered scores of alien races and began to slowly establish a network of contacts across the cosmos.
In 2154, the Cabby came into possession of a space taxi that he acquired from a showroom on Rieger III. Referring to himself as an interstellar multi-Species transportation expert, the Cabby began running fares across the cosmos in cab #7433, which he affectionately referred to as his "old jalopy". Invariably, his trips would bring him into the thick of a dangerous adventure.
When not ferrying customers across the universe, the Space Cabby can usually be found loitering about any number of hack stands near the rings of Saturn.
