Filibusting comics ... know it? I wrote it!

If it wasn't for David Mack, I would never have cracked a comic book. I, like so many women before me just saw the big titted covers and avoided them. It was 2002 and I was stuck in a comic book store while my young nephew played in a Yu-gi-oh tournament. I saw the cover of Kabuki and was immediately drawn to the watercolors. Kabuki was amazing - I finally found a female that wasn't bait! Every comic book, every action film, every book I had opened showed me women who were built to be protected, to be captured and dangled as bait for someone stronger, brighter, and better than her to save. Kabuki was such a breath of fresh air. Since then I have found "Powers", "Runaways", "Y - the Last Man", and "Buffy" - as well as taken my screenwriting skills to start my own comic book. So, thanks Mr. Mack for opening my eyes to comics and the depth they can travel.
