GRID Alternatives

The mission of GRID Alternatives is to empower communities in need by providing renewable energy and energy efficiency services, equipment and training.

Positions:	We believe making energy choices that are good for the environment can go hand-in-hand with improving the lives of those living in low-income communities.

Description:	GRID Alternatives trains and leads teams of community volunteers to install solar electric systems for low-income homeowners. We are currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and are currently in the process of expanding to other parts of California. As of September 2007 we have installed 103 solar electric systems for low-income families throughout Northern and Central California. These systems will generate over $1.7 million worth of clean, renewable solar power for low-income families that need the savings the most, while offsetting over 5,100 tons of greenhouse gas emissions.
