Description: The international community has been historically horrible at recognizing, reacting to, and preventing genocide, the most heinous crime against humanity.

The Genocide Intervention Network is an organization with the goal of establishing a permanent anti-genocide constituency in order to change this policy of inaction.

As individuals, we each have the choice to be either bystanders or upstanders in the face of injustice and tragedy. Through this network of activists we are creating awareness, policy change, and hope for the people who are suffering.

The Genocide Intervention Network is currently focused on ending the genocide that is taking place in Darfur, Sudan. The money raised through GI-Net will go directly to the African Union to support their mission in Sudan with non-lethal supplies (boots, tents, walkie-talkies, etc.). The AU is the only peacekeeping force currently in Darfur and is operating with a severely underfunded mandate.

GI-Net is also funding a program that provides convoys to accompany the women and girls when they go out to collect firewood and water, as this the time when they are normally attacked and raped by the government funded militias, known as the janjaweed.
