Indy Reads

Indy Reads seeks to improve the literarcy skills for adults in Central Indiana who read or write at or below the sixth grade level.

Positions:
  1. We believe everyone should have an opportunity to learn to read.
  2. Volunteers must complete 15-20 hours of instruction from our professional trainers before they are matched with a student from our waiting list.
  3. To succeed, students and tutors meet twice a week, for an hour and a half, for a minium of a year.

Indy Reads is the only organization in Central Indiana accredited by ProLiteracy Worldwide providing free basic adult literacy tutoring. Utilizing trained volunteers we reach over 400 students annually, helping them to become self-sufficient. Volunteer training is the foundation of our organization.
