To improve the survival rate of children with leukemia in Behcet Uz Children’s Hospital (BUCH) in Izmir, Turkey.


Behcet Uz Children’s Hospital Foundation (BUVAK) is a non-profit organization which supports the hospital by purchasing life saving medical equipments, opening new clinics in the hospital, expending the existing ones and helping the sick children in need.

Most children who are getting their treatment at BUCH are coming from economically disadvantaged families. The hospital admits the kids regardless of the family’s ability to pay the medical expenses. BUVAK helps these children by purchasing the medically necessary items for their treatments.

A diagnosis of childhood leukemia puts a family in crises. Leukemia is a catastrophic disease and the treatment consists of blood transfusions, chemotherapy, spinal taps, bone marrow tests and more, all these bring financial burden to the family. Leukemia is a treatable disease and no child should die from it.
