Malika Tulyaganova is a 20 year-old girl from Uzbekistan affected with blood cancer since September, 2006. She is diagnosed with "Acute Myeologenous Leukemia" and needs an immediate surgery, but in different countries the bone-marrow transplant costs differently - from 80,000-100,000 dollars in India and Russia to almost 300,000 dollars in the United States. So far 11,000 dollars have been collected.
Malika has undergone several chemotherapy treatments and is still receiving them at Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. But, that is the only thing that is keeping her alive now - or in other words - extending her life. Unfortunately, that doesn't help to cure her disease. The only opportunity for her to survive is to undergo immediate surgery. I am a journalist and I visited her family in September of 2007 while on a trip to Uzbekistan. Her family is very grateful to people helping her both financially and spiritually by calling her at home, visiting her at the hospital. Her sister Saida is a student at Drexler University in Philadelphia. Malika also dreams of studying in US. After my visit, I made an English-language report about Malika for television in English so that people can find out more about her. Go to http://youtube.com/watch?v=0TLZUtfT 2-8 for that videoreport. Special thanks to people who are helping her. There is a discussion board opened specifically about her and her case. http://forum.arbuz.com/showthrea... |
