The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. We carry out this mission through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies' lives. March of Dimes researchers, volunteers, educators, outreach workers and advocates work together to give all babies a fighting chance against the threats to their health: prematurity, birth defects, low birthweight.

Payton was truly a miracle. She was born weighing only 2 lbs 5 oz @ Columbus Regional in GA. Shes 3 months old now & weighs almost 6 lbs!=]

I was diagnosed with pregnancy induced hypertension at 10 weeks. I was diagnosed with preclampsia at 24 weeks and I delivered at 26 weeks. Weighing 1lb 12 oz Gillian was born crying (the greatest hope we had because we had been assured she would not cry by the doctors). 93 days in the NICU, the ups and downs that will never be forgotten. An at home nurse for 2 months that came to visit, being followed by numerous doctors for 3 years, physical therapy for the first 2 years, speech therapy for the 2 year and now a happy/healthy 3 year old:) WE could not be more thankful for the March of Dimes and the research that they are doing to help babies like our daughter.

All weekend long I kept feeling a trickle down my leg, I kept goin into the ER but all tests came back negative and then Monday morning my water completely broke. I was transfered to the best hospital and was given all kinds of meds to stop the labor and help my daughters lungs develope. I made it 72 hours before I actually went into labor, she was born at 24 weeks and 2 days, 1lb 5 oz and 12 1/4 inches long. At first they couldnt get the breathing tube down her throat and lost her once.... but god answered my prayer cuz now I have a healthy lil 3 yr old running around as healthy as can be... shes just a lil on the short side for her age!
