It is sad that theres incidences of misuse of heritage buildings in our district. Joo Chiat is the largest architecture conservation area in Singapore with over 900 protected properties. This latest abuse was using a shophouse to house migrant workers. Overcrowding aside, there is potential for fire hazards and pollution. Social responsibility stems from an involvement with a community and being held accountable for actions. The workers hostel operator appears arrogant to suggest that the problems lies with the community complaining about him housing workers. What do you think?
