Thank you all so much for signing the petition for insurance companies to cover genetic testing for Breast Cancer. We're going to be making our arrangements to deliver the petition as soon as we complete a major event that our team will be participating next week. I'm looking forward to meeting with our legislators and insurance companies CEO's to hammer out legislation that will help families be able to use genetic testing as an early detection tool as well as determine any course of action to ensure their health.
Be well everyone! Stay tuned! We're working on helping the millions effected by breast cancer!

About this Petition:
The photo is of my sister and I. We are among the many thousands affected by breast cancer. My sister is survivor still in treatment and I am someone, like many thousands, who have a history of breast cancer in my family and unable to afford breast cancer genetic marker screening. It is deemed a novelty by insurance companies. We disagree.

The Desired Outcome of this Petition:
We hope that this petition will start debate between our government medical insurance companies regarding genetic testing as an early detection tool in breast cancer screening and treatment. This petition has no desire to note a specific genetic test because there are other scientific studies in development. Insurance companies can not be allowed to put restrictions on genetic testing either. Currently, there are a few insurance companies that do cover genetic testing but only if there are… (read more)
We hope that this petition will start debate between our government medical insurance companies regarding genetic testing as an early detection tool in breast cancer screening and treatment. This petition has no desire to note a specific genetic test because there are other scientific studies in development. Insurance companies can not be allowed to put restrictions on genetic testing either. Currently, there are a few insurance companies that do cover genetic testing but only if there are 3 people within the family history that have been diagnosed with breast cancer. People with a family history, even if the history is only ONE breast cancer patient, should be given an option to have a genetic test done and have it be covered under their medical insurance.
However we want to ensure that these tests, if positive, can not be used by insurance companies as a marker for "pre-existing conditions" if a diagnosis should occur after genetic testing. (show less)
