To: His Excellency Ban Ki-moon, United Nations Secretary-General

We petition that…

We are committed to ending violence against women and girls. Worldwide, at least one of every three women has faced repression through sex trafficking, domestic abuse, sexual assault, honor killings, female genital mutilation, child marriage, emotional and verbal abuse, and other forms of violence.

Seventh-day Adventists and supporters from more than 200 countries and territories join to advocate the end of all forms of violence against women and girls. In recognition of the United Nations’ efforts regarding this issue, we call on the world community—governments, businesses, humanitarian organizations, church congregations, schools, and individuals—to use all measures possible to work toward a solution.

Because we recognize that violence against women is a major problem, we believe that to remain indifferent and unresponsive regarding this issue is to condone, perpetuate, and potentially extend such behavior. This is why we take the stand to end it now!
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
